Guest Post: Kozo Wants A Hug

Please welcome my guest blogger, Kozo from EverydayGurus!  Come on over– comment, hug, and send rawr-love his way! http://everydaygurus.com/

Yes, I’m that guy who overuses the {{{Hugs}}} symbol, so I thought it fitting that I would write about virtual hugs. Whenever I visit Rara’s blog, I just want to give her a great big hug. But since she lives about two hundred miles away and her husband, Dave, filed a restraining order, I am forced to give virtual dino hugs.

Here’s my list of 5 ways to give virtual hugs:

  1. Reach out and touch someone. If you can’t hug someone, you might be able to grip their shoulder or touch their hand. If you are required by court to stay 200 feet away from them, you can send them a hand written letter. Your handwriting is like your touch—unique, intimate, and traceable by the FBI. Like some of you other lucky followers, I got a hand written Christmas card from Rarasaur. I’ve never felt so loved. Plus, I now have her home address.
  2. Love all/Serve all. If hugs are out of the question, maybe you can be of service. Help them across the street. Make them a home cooked meal. Be a guest blogger for them. Rarasaur is a master of service. Her posts on blogging help us all achieve our blogging goals. She made the Bloggers for Peace badge and logo for free. She drew everyone who signed up for C4C a doodle and wrote them a poem.

Whenever I look at this doodle, I can feel Rara’s arms around me—under Dave’s watchful eye, of course.
  1. Shut up and listen. If you can’t hug someone, the next best thing you can do is listen to them. Don’t just hear what they say, but feel what they are really trying to say. As you know, Rarasaur is an incredible empath. She also reads EVERYTHING we write which is the equivalent of listening to a blogger’s heart. The best example of how to be a good listener comes from the https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/2013/01/10/rainbow-luck/ post from Rarasaur—If you haven’t read this post, stop reading this drivel, click on the link, and come back after you dry your tears.
  2. Use the Force, Luke.  If you can’t give a physical hug, then use the Force. Remember when Yoda lifted the X-wing fighter out of the swamp in The Empire Strikes Back?  You can do the same thing. Just close your eyes, extend your hand, and imagine that you are giving someone a hug. Try it. “Do or do not…there is no try.” If you are not a hugging Jedi yet, you can always reach your hand out and click “like” on someone’s post. Better yet, leave a comment. Whenever I receive a “like” or comment from Rara, I feel like there is no restraining order between us and we are free to hug for as long as we like.
The Force is strong in this post. I think I’ll click “like.”

  1. Use dorky symbols. If all else fails, you can always type {{{Hugs}}}. I imagine the parenthesis as my arms and the word Hugs as Rara the person. I know it pales in comparison to a real warm sensual hug, but my lawyer assures me it is totally legal in most states.

Thank you for reading, sharing, and/or smiling.

How has Rarasaur made you feel loved?  Please share.

  1. Lol. That’s just too funny. I’m always using the force, though sometimes it works against me. Sadly I also use the emotes versions of everything instead of the {} I’ll do /hugs!

    1. I really believe that the Force works, Alice, even though I used to try for hours to move things using the Force when I was a kid like Luke attracting his light saber in the ice cave, but it never worked.
Love your version of {{{Hugs}}}. The version I use requires the flexibility of a Chinese acrobat on the keyboard. I’m trying to figure out a way to quickkey it. Thanks for reading and commenting.

      1. Oh I know it’s true. Just like the VW Commercial. It does work. I’ve noticed my tea mug gets closer to me just when I want it. And some people actually start to think as I feel they should!
And you’re most welcome. I greatly enjoyed it. I love using the gamer version of emotes. Makes it so much easier to type, I just miss having my toon that shows them!

          Move along.

What did I just say. Hey, Alice, did you just use the Force on me?

  2. This cracked me up. Rara has made me feel loved by telling me my photography/artwork was pretty darn awesome. Not exactly in those words but you get the picture. She, like so many of my newer readers, has become a treasured friend.

    1. We’re all BBFs now, DDiW. Rara is one of those people who can just make us feel good about ourselves, until you see how many followers she has compared to our followers. haha.
I might do a study on why people love Rara so much. You can offer some evidence. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

    1. I completely agree, Sortaginger. How does Rara make us feel like we are all in one huge group hug when we read and comment on her blog?
Love the emoticon. I wonder what the person who invented the first happy face emoticon is thinking. Too bad s/he couldn’t patent the idea.

    1. I don’t think I was given much attention as a kid, so I NEED hugs 24/7–virtual, real, self, synthetic, artificial. You name it; I’ll hug it. I agree though that hugs from close friends and family are especially nice.
      p.s.
Love the book recommendations. I never knew Stephen King wrote a book about writing. Will check it out.

  5. I use force the wrong way, but hey, it usually keeps me from slapping people, that’s should count as a hug.
I really love Rara, and is not BS, she was so helpful and willing to help with something totally random for 2 strangers that had intrude on her blog and won a doodle.
For that I’ll be always grateful and in debt with Rara.

    1. Sorry it took me so long to respond, Leo, but I just spent the last half hour on your blog. I am so jealous that you have a Rara doodle in your banner.

Rara has done so many favors for me, I owe her my blog’s first born child.

I love how she turns a community into a community. The abundance of sweet geekery, positive thoughts, and beautifully written stories always have me smile!

    You’re the best Rara-mama! 😀

    Much love!!

    1. Like you, Purnimodo, I wanted to adopt Rara as my mom as well, until I found out she is almost half my age. :0 She must have an old soul because I was a numbskull when I was Rara’s age. This is why I am so grateful for blogging. I don’t think I would have met Rara in real life, but in the blogosphere I get to have a blog crush on her and not feel like a creep. Actually, that is a lie. I do sometimes feel like a creep, but it is worth it. haha.
Thanks for reading and commenting. {{{Hugs}}} Kozo

      1. I’d love to tell you I was an Olympic figure skater 🙂 but it would be a lie. I just follow the sport as a fan. Most people don’t even know that figure skating has a season, like hockey or football or baseball. There’s 10 major international competitions, and many B level competitions, and all the national competitions every (northern) winter. Canada, Russia, Japan, and USA, are the biggest countries in the sport. I just love it and have attended many competitions over the years. Don’t go to any now of course, but I do still follow it on-line.

        1. Your still fascinating, Alison. A figure skating season. Who knew? Gold Medalist Kristi Yamaguchi went to my church. I had a huge crush on her sister Laurie. Two things I noticed about Kristi when she was very young were her charming smile and her incessant positive attitude. I bet those are two essential elements for any figure skater. That sport can be brutal on the egos of young athletes.
Great to get to know more about you, Alison.
