I unfollowed you. (A Love Letter)

Despite it’s title, this is a love letter.  To you.

You see, love letters are supposed to start with confessions, so here goes: I unfollowed you.

To be fair, I unfollowed everybody.  There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to add you back without re-following as you comment.

I know you have questions.

Why did I do it? I didn’t do it on purpose.  How did it happen? I have no idea.  Why do I hyphenate re-follow but not unfollow? I have no idea, but at least I’m consistent.

We could do Q&A all day (and hey, one day we might), but for now the point is… I miss you.

http://www.sugarboodesigns.com

Even though it’s been only a day, and I don’t even know if you’ve posted anything, I miss you.  Please send me an email, or comment with all your various blogs, or do something so that I can find you again because I love you to the moon and back.

Yes, you, my lovely reader.

It is your friendship that encourages me to write, and your readership that pushes me to write something worth reading.

Just last weekend, the lovely editors at the Trifecta Writing Challenge picked my piece, Hollow-Boned, as the second place winner.

On the 1st, WordPress picked my apocalyptic short story, An Unwashed Future, to be Freshly Pressed.  It’s my second Pressed honor– the last one being an entirely different sort of thing.

Thank you to the Powers-That-Be for those recognitions!

I am in awe of these honors because spotlights often bring new friends into our cozy circle.  Still, though, I am more amazed when I hear from you.  You aren’t grading my post on grammar or its ability to reach a large audience.  You aren’t required to sift through entries.

No, you’ve chosen to read my post.  If you comment or like, your thoughts are based on whether or not it moves you in some way.  The simplicity and honesty of that readership moves me.

“Gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder.”
– G.K. Chesterton

None of those recognitions would have happened, or would have mattered, without you.   You are wondrous, frightfully wondrous.

My happiness is doubled by you.

So just in case you forgot, or just in case you’re new here,  I’ll speak plainly for the important part:
I am grateful for you, and I love you to the moon and back.

Much love,
Rara

P.S. – As always, if you have any suggestions, questions, or constructive criticisms, send them my way.  If you need a favor, or have a request, just ask.  If there’s anything I can do to double your happiness, I’d love to help.  You can always contact me here or direct to my email, rarasaurdinosaur@gmail.com.

    1. 🙂 Thanks for commenting, Jenny! You’re added back to my feed, phew! By the way, lovely, you name doesn’t link to your blog and your gravatar profile has an inappropriate picture attached to your blog name. I wouldn’t bring it up in most cases, just in case it was an inside joke… but I’m thinking in your case it’s just some sort of spam? Thanks for the welcome back into the House of Dreams! 😀

  1. I wish I had time to write a Fifty Word comment but I spent way too long finding pictures of superheroes in underpants this morning. In which case, I’ll say it in three: I love you too!

      1. Haha! It figures that I unfollow you the day you write about superhero underpants, *sighs*. 😀 I’m glad it’s all fixed now and I was able to see the glory of that post. 🙂 And no worries on the 3 vs 4, the point came across just fine! *hugs* 😀

      2. Oh, and Amanda… you might want to tweak your gravatar profile so that your name or the picture or your profile links to your blog. Just in case someone sees your icon and thinks, “That sounds awesome”… they wouldn’t be able to get to you. Just in case someone is reading this right now and thinking that: http://fiftywordsaday.wordpress.com

  2. You’re lovely post made me smile, which was surprising considering you’ve just unfollowed me! I loved your tweet today too. When you write those little lines you never know who will read them and what difference they will make. Thank you. And for the record I would follow you regardless of the followback.

    1. Haha! You should know I would never unfollow a fellow pro-chicken-er. 😉 I can’t believe I almost missed your cheer up post for TD, super sweet and hilarious all at once. 🙂 I follow almost everyone who follows me, but mostly because I like to know where they’re coming from and who they are not because I believe in the “you should follow who follows you” nonsense. It’s good to know you’ll stick around even if the internet robots decide to play havoc with follow list again, haha! 🙂

  3. Oh no! Now I’m worried there’s a magic “unfollow everyone” button somewhere hiding away waiting for me to accidentally click it (I’m a worrier) 😦
Congratulations on your recent blogging honours!

    1. Same! (In that I am both a worrier, and also worried about a “unfollow everyone” button) But logic says that it was a glitch since it happened while I was sleeping. 🙂 Thanks for the congrats! 😀

    1. My inbox was so sad without all of you, and my reader telling me that I had no new posts was pretty much one of the saddest things I’ve ever seen… like when they separate baby animals at the zoo and the animals cry about it. That’s how sad! 🙂 It’ll be good to have the whole Presser family back together in my inbox again, with zany tales, poetry, pictures, flash fictions, and advice. 🙂

    1. I can! 🙂 Yours was one of the blogs I could remember from the top of my head, so I re-followed you this morning and caught up on your haikus and entries earlier! Phew! I know I don’t always comment or like people’s posts, but I really am reading and it feels so weird to miss a day accidentally. 🙂 Thank you for the congrats and I’m glad I have your words delivered straight to my inbox once again!

    1. Yep, the “like” thing still happens to me fairly regularly. I can’t blame WP entirely, though, sometimes i read a whole post and just forget to hit the button, haha! 🙂 But sometimes, it’s like it’s not even there. Thanks for the congrats!!

  5. Well, I only discovered you yesterday and I doubt whether you were following me but your post has made me smile. The battles we have with technology. Sigh

May I take this opportunity to say that I have found Prompts For The Promptless, and I hope to take part. I am currently trying to wrap my head around Wabi sabi – not easy when everyday matters insist on intervening. I shall be posting at The Daily Dilly Dally http://notsoprompt.wordpress.com

    Glad to have found you.

  7. I was wondering why I got a notice “Rarasaur is now following you” — I didn’t even realize you weren’t. I thought maybe you just had my blog bookmarked and then discovered the follow option 🙂

    1. Haha, nope, I had instant notifications for yours before and had to re-set it up. At least it’s all sorted now and I can follow you once again! 🙂

    1. Haha! 😀 I was going to try to quietly re-follow everyone, but I realized how impractical that was… I always notice when someone follows me, so I figure other people notice, too. I’m actually grateful for twitter because it connected me to several bloggers right away, hurrah!

            1. Haha! It’s just that I like shiny things and buttons so much… I was napping when it happened, so I *feel* like it wasn’t me, but who knows… I can hardly be expected to remember every unlabeled button I click. 😉

    I didn’t see you ‘unfollow’ me… 🙂
Anyway; good to see you’ve got it all straightened out. And wonderful that you were ‘freshly pressed’ again…! 🙂

    1. Thank you Carolyn! Yes, I thought it might look odd when I started re-following people, so I figured I had to explain somehow, haha! 😀 Thank you for the congrats on being Freshly Pressed!

    1. No, I started following you awhile ago… you were one of my first! That one 17 hours ago must have been me trying to follow back all the blogs I normally follow. 🙂 Sorry for the confusion to your numbers! It’s all this frelling glitching! 😉

    1. No, it’s not okay, I still go back and take a look at a few of my favorite of your posts when I have quiet moments. 🙂 I’m the same regarding commenting, though I’m trying to get a little better with it… but reading is just more important to me. Even more than writing my own blog. 🙂 Thank you for the congrats! 😀

  15. Hmm, Microsoft Word doesn’t like the word unfollowed. Un-followed, it likes that. Refollowed, nope, re-followed; that’s ok. Ok, that’s five minutes of the morning I won’t get back. 🙂

    1. Haha! *hugs* I actually thought of you when I wrote that part of the question, for some reason I thought you’d want to know if there was rhyme or reason to my arbitrary hyphenation. 🙂 I’ve actually never been able to figure out how to properly follow you or your other blogs… I just check in every so often. It’s probably something simple that I’m missing… or do you just not have following activated?

  16. I giggled a bit when I got the email that you were following me. Then I double checked to make sure it was a second coming of the rarasaur, and it was. It reminded me of your post when you talked about hitting unfollow instead of like. Ever since that post I have stopped using the top Like and started using the post post Like.

    Like

    1. 🙂 Actually, I’ve been doing quite a bit of that lately… plus deliberately unfollowing and following to get the instant notifications to reset… maybe that’s what kickstarted it? It’s smart of you to click the like at the bottom, but I never feel like I have the patience for that, haha! 😀 Thanks for being so understanding, Melanie!

  17. Unfollowed! Kind of like whiting everyone out of your address book in the old days except less work… Congrats on everything you have achieved thus far!

    1. More work, I’d imagine. I don’t know how long it’d take to individually unfollow 1000+ blogs, but I’m thinking more than whiting out or tossing out an address book, haha! 🙂 Thank you for your congrats!!

  18. All kinds of weird things seem to be happening in the Word Press universe. I’ve unfollowed people unintentionally, and there are a whole bunch of folks in my reader I’ve never heard of!

You my friend, are a keeper, though. And fortunately you are not an unfollowed nor need to be re-followed.

Congrats on your recent notices. Good for you!

  19. I have accidently unfollowed a few blogs. It really blows because there is no recycle bin or stat to search for unfollowed blogs. I hope you end up with your list intact. And congratulations. It is always cool to be acknowledged for your dedication and work.

    1. Exactly! A recycle bin would be great– awesome idea! I think my list is slowly rebuilding, so it’s all gonna work out fine. 🙂 Thanks for the congrats!!

  21. You really did! You may be interested to know that I have several pages as well as posts. I don’t think these appear in your inbox or reader. And if (after all the comments are in) you are still looking for blogs you used to follow, you could compare your list of followers…
…and I am a GK Chesterton fan too. I have the same quote in my notebook! Sue

    1. 🙂 I don’t think there’s a button… it was probably either a hack, or a glitch. I don’t know if that’s better, but at least I know I didn’t push anything, haha! 🙂 This time, I’m making a list of the blogs I follow!

  25. I enjoy your writing. It’s unpredictable and fun. As for unfollowing: It’s terribly convenient that we can do so much stuff with a single click … but we really need an “OH NO I DIDN’T MEAN TO DO THAT” counter click or implementation of the missing “oops” button. Congratulations! Many are called, but few are chosen … and twice!
