A Peppered BBQ

today_is_111213

Yesterday, I told Dave to be excited for tomorrow because 11/12/13 would never happen again.  He pointed out that it would, in 100 years.

I was disappointed, so he reminded me that — in fact– every day is a day that will never happen again. Thus, every day is unique, and fleeting, and worthy of celebration.

thisdaywillneverhappenagain

It’s a blustery, foggy day here in Southern California– but our virtual world still shines bright, so I’m thinking today would be the perfect day to celebrate with a BBQ!

bbqluv, beautiful blog quotation #BBQLUV – Kozo’s brilliant idea

I am thankful for the wonderful bloggers who took this blog-everyday-journey with me and badged up as Poblanos.  They are fierce, and fabulous, and basically rock stars. We’re only 12 days in, but we’ve had successes as a team– features on BlogHer, three Poblanos Freshly Pressed, successful guest posts, and blogging through illness. I’ve assembled some things they’ve said that have inspired me, wow’d me, and humbled me in the most beautiful way possible. Perhaps they’ll inspire you, too?

I hope you enjoy, and I hope (in the spirit of celebration) you visit them, and wish them a happy 11/12/13.

Merry 11/12/13, my friends!
Rara

P.S. I have a PG13 version of this post where I’ve assembled some of my favorite bits of the shocking, racy, silly, crazy, swear-y stuff they’ve said. Interested?

P.P.S All of these were generated by LiveLuvCreate.com, and ReciteThis.com, and the pictures included are theirs– and picked pretty much at random– except for the last which is (to me, quite obviously) the work of the great Veronica Roth.

  1. Thanks for the little tribute. I think I’m ready to write a self-help book now. Bwahahah! Just kidding! Much love to you, Rara!

    1. Who needs a self-help book with so many awesomely spicy bloggers around, right? πŸ˜‰ Haha, yay for us! How’s Poblanoing going for you, Rose?

      Like

      1. Most definitely. πŸ˜€ Poblanoing is a bit slow yesterday and so far today. I’m hoping to come up with something decent enough to write about here in the next little bit. We shall see.

    1. Y’all are the awesome ones! That’s what I wanted to highlight. I’ve been seriously blown away by the voice and fun and range of everyone’s writing. How have you enjoyed the journey so far, my fellow pepper?

      1. I just saw this…so late response. I am loving being part of the peck of peppered posters! I am behind on my rowmies/column-mates follow ups from being sick but am trying to make up for it now.

I tried NaBloPoMo last year, when I first started blogging, so I feel like I was better prepared for it. Plus, all the awesome resources you and the other teammates have come up with.

        We’re hot!

    1. Aww, thanks, Glory! You were part of the inspiration for the whole post actually. I just had to put your quote on something. πŸ˜€ How’s the spicy-daily-blogging been treating you? πŸ™‚

      1. Oh really? Golly I’m a total cheese-ball right now from smiling πŸ˜€ As for the daily blogging; honestly it’s giving me indigestion :/ I wake up thinking about a post. By the time I get to writing, it dissolves.
It’s a challenge I must see to the finish. So I’m still doing it πŸ™‚

  2. I loved this feast. It was utterly delicious. πŸ™‚
Whoop! I didn’t even notice the date. Btw, we write date in the format of dd/mm/yy here which means the curious day would arrive next month.

    1. I thought about that when I was writing it, actually– I’ll celebrate that one, too. πŸ˜‰ Thanks for attending the feast. Have you enjoyed being a Poblano so far? πŸ™‚

  3. Funny because my nephew just put the same thing on facebook – 11/12/13, we’ll never see it again. I was thinking, won’t we see it on 11/12/2113 and every one hundred years after that? He’s a smart guy, and I had to think twice, thrice, about my logic, before commenting it on facebook. But, he agreed, I was right.

    1. Ha! It’s self-centric for sure, but I was really thinking, “I won’t ever see it again” – but of course the world will. If we’re using this dating system in a hundred years. πŸ˜€

  4. Love these “cliff’s notes” πŸ™‚ But I am intrigued to check out some new blogs as well. By the way, I gave you a little shout out on my blog today. Just spreading a little love, that’s all.

    1. Thanks, V, I’m so glad! Yours took the longest since I knew I wanted to use one of your pictures… I love the yellow tree and Morgan looking at the maples, but they didn’t fit my end idea of “time for tea”, ha! πŸ™‚

Thank you too for including my blog in there πŸ˜€
Will find the time to visit some of the blogs with those really awesome quotes πŸ™‚

    1. Oh yes, Shree– they’re all worth visiting, even if it’s just to say and get acquainted. These are just the quotes that spoke to me (maybe because of where I was at that day), but there are many more gems to be found! xo! Happy 11/12/13!

  6. Bit parochial this one Rara. Over here in the UK it was 12/11/13. The Muslim calendar has it as mid 1500s somewhere. Goodness only knows what the Mayans would have made it.
BTW I didn’t go in for the Poblamo. I didn’t want to cut down on my output.

    1. Not to parochial, really, more selfish. Where I live, in my lifetime, it won’t happen again. Though, really, I was more celebrating the idea I stumbled into– that no one day ever happens again. πŸ™‚ And despite all the differences in our dating structures, everyone gets to live a day that never gets lived again. πŸ˜€

Some of the Poblanos post multiple times a day, too– πŸ™‚ The goal is AT LEAST one a day. πŸ˜€ I usually post about once every 15-19 hours, but since I’m trying to comment and visit all the Poblanos regularly, I’m barely making my post a day, ha! πŸ™‚ Oh well, I like the challenge. Being a good reader is as important to me as being a good writer! πŸ˜€

      1. I was just poking a stick in your ear, Rara. Just funnin’ ya ma’am.
I reckon with 700+ posts in 15 months I’m pulling my weight this end. And I read as much as I can, though that’s limited at the moment because I spend so much time writing fiction/short stories, and even MORE time being a shameless self publicist for them.

        1. πŸ˜€ Well, I am glad you’re writing because I very much enjoy being one of your readers! Plus, the self-promotion helps– otherwise, how I would I know when there’s new goodies to read? πŸ˜€

                1. πŸ˜€ Ha! I was literally just writing a post that think “Duncan is going to have a fit.” – since it’s about horoscopes and how much I love ’em. πŸ˜‰ I can’t wait to see what yours is about. πŸ˜€
