Guest Post: Shree Talks Love

Please welcome the fabulous Shree from Heartsongs Blog. She is a talented writer and artist who lovingly (and last-minute-ly) stepped in for me after my fall in the shower today. Be as wonderful to her as she has been to me — and send buckets of rawrLove her way in the comments and over at her blog! http://heartsongsblog.wordpress.com/

Round and round it goes,
A game of cat and mouse,
Like a game of chess, with its kings and queens,
Pawns and knights,
A Bishop or 2
Its board is never
Just black or white
Instead it’s made of beautiful, shimmering hues
Colours of a rainbow
It is vibrant and full of energy,
Yet as subdued as shades of pastels.
It can be strong and bold,
Pushing barriers, breaking down walls,
Yet soft and gentle and sweet,
Like satin on your skin,
Sweet honey on your lips.
It can ignite with such sudden force,
The passions that lie within you
It can soothe with its calming balm.
It makes you close your eyes and hold in your breath,
while it opens your mind and fills your heart with life.
It will dry your tears, that sadness once stole,
and make you smile, through your tears of joy.
People say that it hurts,
people say that it scars,
people say that it can turn ugly,
People are always saying things……
What I think I should say,
Is that we let love be love,
A gift from God, brought down by the Angels above,
Don’t let us taint love,
with our human weaknesses.

    1. No, it’s not too bad, just some swelling. I had to take some “real” medicine and that did me in more than the fall– it always knocks me out! Thank you, Indira!!

        1. Thank you, Tess… yes, I’m doing alright! Typing’s a little more difficult than it should be, but after a good deal of rest, I’m feeling much better!

Well…it was something cool to help out with so… 😉 And Rara’s a really sweet person too!

Psst…are you following her too? She’s the one who liked your FB page…I know I invited her to…but then again you may already know her…hahahaha… *hugs*

can’t wait to read your magazine articles when you tell me how to access them! I did not know she follows me , not on wordpress anyway. But I will check out the blog some more. Someone with a similar name followed my FB page but it says that he’s a male. so I do not really know. With FB, it can get confusing. I tried to like your page as my page and I cannot find you lol! put a link on your blog so I can like you there.

        “hugs”

        1. Thanks Linda…it’s a really old one I wrote more than 4 years ago though…;)

The post on the article is coming out on Sunday…I had to scan it because you can’t find it online.

Yes…that’s Rara who followed you..it’s her name and Grayson’s who is her husband …and could be why she chose a “he”…hehe.

My FB page is on my blog already…just have to like it 😉 It’s on the side bar.

    1. Thank you!
Right so…see a “normal” person would have just said Thank you, appreciated the comment and moved on…but me being me, I’m wondering if the comment was for Rara’s intro…you know..a call for help from the wonderful helpful beautiful talented Rara, she’s all sore from her fall..:( And then…even though it’s last minute….the spirit of humanity is still alive as help comes to her bloggy aid….
That would have moved me more too….

BUT…as I’m re reading your comment….I refuse to believe that the movement was of the physiological variety and more of a emotional one, but then again…any movement is good movement…

      So I’ll say…thank you 🙂

    1. Ooo….thank you so much! 🙂 It was written a long time ago…it was a time of feeling happy and at the same time coming to grip with sadness. However…I’m already following wepoetsshowit…and the first order of business is to come up with something for the latest Wednesday Word Cloud 🙂
For some reason…I think I’m not allowing myself to tap into that part of me that came out with stuff like this! Hmmm….

        1. It’s a challenge…tried to read the tiny word…but just picked out some of the bigger ones…knowing me I’d probably not strictly follow just the words only..hehe.

And yup…that was me asking the question about deadlines *waves hello*

          1. Yes I usually have two windows up one where I can zoom in on the words and the other is wePoets ha. Waves back! I can’t wait to see what you come up with, you sound determined! You can cheat and add some of your own words. 😉

  1. Shree,
    Wonderful poem! Love these lines:
“It makes you close your eyes and hold in your breath,
while it opens your mind and fills your heart with life.”
Our hearts would work without love, it’s true, but love gives the beats life. 😀

But yes, wobbly about covers it. I don’t do well with regular medications like Tylenol and the like….

  2. Lovely poem, Shree. I particularly love the last few lines:
    “People are always saying things……
What I think I should say,
Is that we let love be love,
A gift from God, brought down by the Angels above,
    Don’t let us taint love,

  3. Rara: Fall in the shower? I did that once. It hurt, a lot.

Shree: my father-in-law likes to play chess, a lot, and gets excited if he thinks someone will play chess with him. I’m a weirdo and wish he would learn the Japanese/Korean (shogi) or Chinese (xiangqi) variants. Sorry I don’t have something more profound or complimentary to say– out of sorts atm, but I do love poetry

    1. J – Yep, it hurt. A lot. I’m lucky to have fallen so well because it kept me from dying naked, but I did mangle up my hand. I’m a sissy when it comes to hand pain, so I took medicine and then had to deal with the wobbly nature of that… I’m glad to know you love poetry! Us poetry lovers are a small minority ’round these parts. 😀

      1. Small minority? Really? Wow…

I don’t write poetry as much as I used to, but it was really great cathartic therapy for a time. I wrote in lots and lots of free verse, not quite stream of consciousness, but not much formed beyond that.

    1. Hello! 🙂 Thank you for saying you enjoyed my posts…it’s awesome to read that! I’ve seen your avatar on my blog…and am just slowly starting to explore other blogs! Thank you for dropping by! I just took a peek at your little place and yay you seem to be a doggy person ..which is always awesome!

I think Rara *is* resting…Dave (her husband) posted an updated on FB yesterday. Thought you’d like to know.

        1. You’re welcome! I wasn’t sure if I should or not! BUT then Dave (hahaha I completely forgot his name even though you’ve mentioned it in your blog posts and called him by his profile name…well at least that’s not *too* bad) updated it on FB *so* I thought that would be cool to pass that message along…

Phew…ok…you’re probably good for another 5 more comments…then gotta get more rest! Left hands are important! I should know! I’m a leftie!!

          1. Yeah, I’m already feeling pooped. I feel like I do everything with my right hand, but I guess not. I type fairly evenly with both. And, as to the Dave-Grayson thing, either is fine… Grayson will be his legal name soon so I need to get with the times, ha! 🙂 Thank you again, I really appreciate it!

  6. Feel better, Rara. Beautiful piece, Shree. In response, I am guilty of refusing to let love be love, especially in the past few weeks. It’s so important to cast unrealistic expectations aside, but I struggle with that. I can’t wait to read more of your work.

    Like

    1. Hi megan..thank you for the comment and don’t worry…I too have expectations…actually there are still times when I ponder what love really is. Maybe it’s me being me…wanting to know how..but yes there are times when I want to know how love actually feels…that unconditional love that people talk about. It’s one thing to read or write about it, another to feel it….

The good thing is that we are aware..then at least we know we are choosing..and that’s a great start! 😀

    2. Thank you, Megan! 🙂 (I particularly loved the honesty of your response to Shree’s poem. So many of us struggle with that seemingly simple concept! 🙂 )
