BlitzenMagic : Windmill Slam!

I would like it stated for the record: when Rarasaur says weird, she means weird.

Those super secret prizes I mentioned are due and I’ve decided to post them in groups of 4, starting with my four fellow anonymous authors.

For those who don’t immediately recognize the card designs, or perhaps even the title (though Magic slang is frightfully colloquial) — I’ve decided to make everyone their own Magic: the Gathering card complete with their own image and flavor text.  It is your prize for using the super secret magic word like #Blitzen warriors!

If you still have no idea what I’m talking about, you can read up on Magic over at Wikipedia: here.  It’s a wondrously enchanting card game played by millions.

You can read about the Blitzen frenzy that inspired these prizes on my post: here.

BlitzenMagic - the Bloggathering!

Disclaimers, written with full respect to copyright legalities, the reality of geek cred, and the importance of feelings:
To Magic:  You are notorious for protecting your copyright– so these are BlitzenMagic the Bloggathering cards, of course.  Entirely different!  But seriously, please don’t sue me: my deck would not a full game make.

To the hardcore Magic fans:  All are from the rare golden Rarasaur deck, as you can see.  Other than that, I took liberties with many other aspects to make it symbolic of the time.  I’ll also be posting these under random Magic slang that have no meaning in association with the cards.   And yes, everyone is Blitzenbonded for ability, and a creature.   Please don’t roast me by the flame of Magic blasphemy.

To participants of the BlitzenFrenzy: After these first four, the remaining will be posted with no rhyme or reason in regards to groupings.  Please don’t read any meaning into the grouped postings.  Also, these were made with love and the funny type of sunshine that makes it look like the light is snowing.  In other words, they’re supposed to make you feel good and show the world how much I appreciate you– if you don’t feel it, I will happily take yours down.

Phew! Disclaimers done, let’s party!

  1. Rara,
Le Clown has to tell you right off the bat that he is feeling rather emotional tonight, it’s the Holidays.

    In a good way.

These cards? Le Clown stopped the movie he was watching to show his wife.

    Why?

Because they are truly magnificent™. Because you Rara are truly magnificent™.

    And.

Because they are made from Magic: The Gathering templates, and someone who Le Clown loves dearly adores this game. It brought tears.

As Le Clown said, he’s feeling rather emotional tonight. In a good way.

    1. I’m so glad. 🙂 I never know how these things’ll go over. Last year, I did 40 some doodles and worried before each one that the person in question wouldn’t like theirs. Needlessly, as it turns out!

I’m glad you love someone who loves Magic: The Gathering– that tells me that you love someone who will have a lifetime appreciation for the strange and wondrous things the world has to offer. That sort of appreciation is a gift.

Thank you again for organizing the blogging games, Le Clown– I had a blitzen blast! 🙂 *hugs*

  2. This is awesome Rara!! I love the BlizenMagic the Bloggathering idea.

Confession – my brothers were all very much in to fantasy and had decks of Magic cards and I was super jealous. They let me play with them but it wasn’t the same as having my own deck. I found solace in my collection of troll dolls.

Ps. How sweet is Le Clown’s reaction? It’s a Christmas miracle.

    1. This comment makes me want to immediately mail you a deck of cards… but I literally just left the zoo that is the post office during Christmas so it’ll have to wait a bit. I have no idea what you’re going to do with it now, but every girl should have at least one card.

Of course, you’ll have your own personal (digital) card soon. 😀

PS – Yep, I cast a miracle enchantment on the Le Clown creature. He was helpless in the face of such Christmas madness. 🙂

    1. Aww, thank you, Steph! They’re a blast to make. I love y’all so much I could make everyone a deck of cards– well, in theory. Time wouldn’t be on my side if I took on that project, though, ha! 🙂

    1. Yay! Thank you, Jon, they’ve been fun to make. I’m going to stagger the posts so as not to flood inboxes TOO much, but I’m excited! 🙂 (How’s Texas treating you, by the by?)

      1. Well, it’s going okay. I’m back in Missouri for the Holidays, until after the first of the year. I haven’t found a job yet, but I did finish some resume and interview workshops last week. I imagine the job listings will open up after the start of the year. It’s a great area…as long as I stay on the outskirts of Dallas. (635 is the devil of all other highways.) I enjoy it. I guess that’s what matters. Hope you’re doing well too.

        1. It’s good that you’re with family for the holidays, 🙂 and I”m sure you’ll have plenty of work prospects when the time comes. 635 is a nightmare, but no where near as bad as all the highways near me now. And yep, enjoying it is what matters! 😀

  4. Now is this awesome Christmas magic or what?? Le Clown all gooey and stuff and the cards are wonderfully magical! Can’t wait to see the rest! This is just, well like I said, Christmas magic is in the air! Big Christmas blitzen hugs my friend!!

    1. Big Christmas blitzen hugs right back! I was pretty happy with how they all came out. I had to restrain myself from just posting them continually in a row, ha! 🙂

  5. I’m rather new to this game and, since my husband jak knew you all better than I do, I figured it was best to just watch from the sidelines. Next year, however, I hope to know you all quite well. Then I’ll feel more confident on this field of battle.

    1. There’s no need to stay on the sidelines, Cimmy! We learn through play. 🙂 (I didn’t mention it in the other comment, and now I’m so lost in magic cards and C4C stuff that I don’t remember where it was– but the Dealing with Dragons set are amongst my most favorite books of all time. :))

      1. Me, too! Why else do you think my goto user name is “Cimmorene” (misspelling. I added an M) I love the main character, The princess Cimorene and her friends, King Kazul and the witch Morwen, and her husband Mendanbar. Plus, I lucked out! I married a Mendanbar.

    1. Right? My main problem with MTG has always been my inability to truly connect with the characters. But these characters– I connect easily with them. 🙂

  6. These are kind of awesome.

I never got into any of this, but I remember reading the kid’s pokemon cards (and being amazed by his ability to memorize all of those but not multiplication tables LOL). I decided Snorlax is my spirit-Pokemon.

    Like

    1. Yay, thank you!! If multiplication tables were a game, people would learn them. I really do believe we learn through play. I learned all my multiplication facts through 20 by the time I was 5, because my parents converted one of those “find the treats” pet toys into one that required getting the multiplication facts correct. I found ALL THE TREATS. 😉

      My spirit-pokemon is Tyrunt. 😀

  7. Rara, your creativity knows no bounds. Knows no, haha, funny. For some reason that makes me think of the old blind man at the beginning of O’Brother Where Art Thou, “I work for No man………I have NO name”. Okay, now my weirdness is shining through a bit. Back to the track Jack, this is a great idea and excellently executed by Blitzen!

    1. Aww, thank you!! Weirdness is welcome here. I did warn any potential onlookers that those of milling about on this blog during holidays were going to be all kinds of crazy. Let it shine! 😀

  8. Have a magical Christmas Rara 😀 and a most wonderful New Year! The magic of you is that you draw me in as if you’re standing right beside me and yet oceans separate us 😀 How magical and cool is that!

  9. I am speechless. I feel, for the first time, like someone truly gets me. Van Damme, a dog, and a turd upon the dog’s head. . . I think I’m in love with you.

  10. Rara, I don’t understand 97.3% of what is going on with this, but that’s actually not bad for me. You rock tits! I heard a teenager say that the other day and it made me laugh so hard that I shook his hand even though he was a complete stranger. I should have asked him if he knew anything about this Magic the Gathering stuff. I hope you have a great Christmas, Rara! You’re a special lady and I’m glad to have made your acquaintance this year.

    1. Aww, thank you, Don! *hugs* Merry Christmas to you, too.

And, in case you want to understand them a bit more: MtG is an odd little game with lots of rules. But basically, the little golden dinosaur is an emblem of the deck set. There’s lots of decks, some are common and some are rare. My dino is gold, so it’s rare. The number on the top is how much it costs to play it, so I set us all to 0. The blitzenbond is made up, of course, but it refers to what they can do when they’re played. In our case, link together for extra super power. And the numbers on the bottom 20/13 – though I did them so they look like the year, explain power/toughness. 20/13 is a very high score. The italicized bottom is called “flavor text” as is supposed to give you a glimpse into the character or backstory. 🙂
