The Matticus Kingdom Wants YOU!

KINGDOMMy post with the giant photo album brought in a lot of emails asking how to get involved with all the silly projects we do around here.  Some people felt left out and I’m sorry for that– I can’t tell you how small it makes me feel to know that anyone feels like they aren’t part of this tribe.  There’s nothing I’d love more than to have you participate in our reindeer games.

The invites are always open and public– but if you want to be bugged notified privately, as well, just add yourself to my mailing list.

Now, it’s time for WAR!

… Tug of War, that is.

This is our second Tug of War.  It is the brainchild of the fascinating Kim, and the loveable Matticus.   It’s pretty simple.  The Jester-King throws out a debate, and you write a post picking a side– then tug your hardest! Use whatever personal information, random made-up nonsense, or detailed arguing that you can muster.  Link back to the Official Kingdom post.

Everything you need to know can be found at the Kingdom.  I’m looking forward to our colorful, ridiculous mania!

Good luck in battle, my fierce friend!  May the geek be with you!

    1. This was all Kim’s idea, really, and then Matticus made it a reality– but they brought me in on the scheming, so I’ll take a tiny bit of credit. *does math* So I rock by approximately 1/8th, yay!

      1. Your math is funny. You rock by 1/3 at least. I think we all rock by 2/3, really, because who wants it to just add up to 1. That’s boring.
Also, how can you remember how this all started?! I couldn’t even remember all that.

    1. Woot! The best thing is that any argument stands… that’s really the only explanation as to why my chicken post from the last one counted at all, haha! 😀 I’m looking forward to your participation, Jackie!

  1. EEEK! The tug of war topic actually fits a post I’ve been wanting to do for awhile, but just haven’t found the time to execute. Hoping I can find time before Friday to take part !!! Either way, what fun!

    1. YAY! That would be awesome! And now I’m super curious about the post so even if you don’t get a chance to link back, be sure to point me in the direction if I miss it! 🙂

    1. 😀 Aww, thank you… even though I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to include everyone. It’s not like we don’t all put our blogs on one leg at a time… 🙂

  2. Oh dear Rara… you are too good, and so tender-hearted. The Blog community has become a bit complex these days. We are a community of writers, not family. And while we build bonds and share much, it is not incumbent upon you or anyone else to make others feel good or bad. DO NOT FEEL SMALL. You are giant bright spot here. If folks want to be included, they need to READ YOUR POSTS and be involved. That simple. Anyone who knows you, knows that you go out of your way to include people, so do not take a few emails to much to heart.

Here again, this Tug of War is you, opening up the door to everyone… so come on in folks! And thank your hostess. xo 😉

    1. 🙂 Thanks, Dawn! I know it’s not my job to make everyone feel included, but I also know how scary it is to get involved for the first time. When I wanted to put together Int’l Label Day for the first time — which was my first group thing– I wouldn’t have had the guts to email anyone if it wasn’t for the ever-practical realism of Misha Burnett (http://mishaburnett.wordpress.com/) who reminded me that I’d definitely fail to assemble my project if I didn’t reach out. When I did, and no one bit my arm off or laughed at me, I realized how warm the community is. Since then, I’ve been braver– but I’m not so naturally brave that I’ve forgotten how scary it was. (Not everyone has Misha to kick ’em in the pants.)

But it’s good to know that some feel welcome– so it’s not that the message isn’t clear, it’s that it isn’t loud enough. 😀 Which is okay. I can be louder!

Thank you for your kind reassurances!! xo! 🙂

      1. I totally understand that part of it, but I also want you to feel supported in the giant efforts you make to include so many, and reach out so warmly. It is my way of sending you a dinosaur size hug of support. 😉 I’ll back off and let you handle it yourself now. I have no doubt you can indeed be louder! 😉

        1. You not only made me feel supported, Dawn— you completely turned my mood around. I was feeling down, but you waved your magic wand and all was better. Please let me know if I can ever return the favor. 🙂 Dino-sized hugs right back!

Tag team up with thycriticman– he’s got a strong argument right there.

I’m hoping, however, that he includes TV shows from the late ’70s, which includes The Incredible Hulk, Wonder Woman, Spider-Man and Marvel’s okay for The Electric Company to use Spidey for a reading segment. (Everyone should recognize Adam West and the Batman show from a decade earlier, of course.)

I probably shouldn’t tell you that the judges of the tug-of-war are susceptible to bribery and they love Snickers. Nope, probably shouldn’t say anything like that.

          1. Well I found some melted smarties in the console cup holder and a seriously old capri sun in the backseat. I think it might have fermented, cause it was all bubbly. I’m down to my last two packets of ketchup and one bucket of polynesian sauce so I’m gonna cast my vote. On the general basis of the Infinity Gauntlet series I vote for Marvel. I mean if you can rule over all of love, time and space and reality, what else is there? That and Spidey and the SIlverSurfer. Please stamp my ticket so I can go get me a SuperSized McfilaWendyKing soda to wash all this down.

            1. Marvel support counted, appreciated, encouraged… oh wait, I’m supposed to be impartial… Yeah, forget that. Go Team Marvel!
