My Blog’s (O)ccult Destiny

Like you, my blog has a name and a birthday.
She was born on August 6th, 2012. Her birthname was

Like you, she has a destiny– one that, perhaps, has already been written on the stars, or whispered into the body of a celestial entity, or scribed on the palm of earth’s mother.

Since my efforts with Blogging 201 have turned up a lot of questions regarding my purpose and personality, I’d figure I’d consult the occult.

Here’s what it had to say:

horoscope, leo

Unlike me, but perhaps not surprisingly, (or as I like to call her, Rawr) was born under the Leo sun sign.  The most likeable trait of a Leo is exuberance.  Special colors are gold and orange.  Special animal is the cat.  It is a masculine sign.  Leo’s are splendid hosts, great friends, and larger-than-life. They perhaps place too much import on outwards appearance, which may be why they seem to stand out from the crowd.

aries moon, horoscope

Rawr’s moon lives in Aries.  The disparity between the cool moon and fiery aries creates a brilliance, and a nervous temperament.  Patience is not the strong suit of this sign.  Aries moons are extremely fond of talking, and knowledgeable about a wide range of topic– but are tempered by a short attention span and an unwavering interest in the next new thing.  Aries moons are charming, and absolutely cannot stand restriction.   Because Rawr’s sun and moon are both fire signs, her energy is multiplied.

Rawr’s birthcards are “The Wheel and The Magician are exciting and intense, always interesting and full of surprises. Between them, they make things happen and constantly extend the range of the possible.  The Magician uses skill and intention to manipulate everything. The Wheel revels in every experience and accepts everything.  The Magician awakens and enlivens whatever he pays attention to. The Wheel is excited by whatever happens to it.  The Magician, human in form and scale, stands in one place and brings great things to pass with small gestures. The Wheel, galactic in size and shape, spins endlessly and experiences the smallest details of every unfolding drama.”

Rawr’s nakshatra is that of the Ashlesha, the most hypnotic sign.  This means her creativity is linked to ideas. This means she has the ability to look into the hidden secrets of nature.  It takes a lot to make an ashlesha angry, but if roused to hostility– it is best to stay well clear of them.  Ashlesha means “to embrace”.  This is a restless sign, always seeking answers, and forever seeking new ways to express their inner self.  Though the symbol is the serpent, the animal sign is the cat.

“Seven Of Diamonds belong to the special family of Seven. It means that their life does not follow the traits of 46 cards of the deck. It may feel as being an alien with ideas and set of values no one completely understands. No one can ever experience how it is to be on your place, except your soul twin. Only six other cards can truly share your deepest thoughts and feelings.

Their karma card – the Nine Of Heart – the card of Universal Love. The main question of your life is – money or love, love or money? Harmonization of these two subjects can become a life-time mission.”

Rawr has a destiny number of 3, so her mission is one of energizing and inspiration.  A number three will encourage others through optimism and enthusiasm, using inspirational creativity to make certain joy spreads to others.  A number three will find great opportunity in a situation that calls for their gift of words, because even if they are moody or critical, they are still called to embrace their destiny.  Rawr must remember to speak up, be positive, and encourage.

Rawr’s challenge number, at this stage in her development, is a #2– which is learning how to have a harmonious relationship without sacrificing true self.  It is a sign of fear, timidity, and lack of self-confidence.  There can be a struggle with reconciling the positive opinions of others with self-critiques.   The challenge here is to build a bridge between two forces, and then to maintain the balance.

Rawr’s soul is a solid 5.  5’s are sensual, and crave extraordinary variety.

Rawr’s Life Path number is a 1, derived from the Karmically-powerful 10.  The purpose of her is to create strength of self and independence, and luckily, her guiding star of 10 will see her through that goal.

Well. I’m not sure if that helped, but it sure was fun.  I like the idea of my blog living out a destiny removed from my own.

Have you given any thought to your blog’s destiny? Do you and my blog share any signs? Are there any of these readings that you’re unfamiliar with?

  1. This is awesome Rara! I love that you did this – I’m rather certain you and your blog are destined to continue on the path of great success indeed.
I’m going to put some thought into my own blog’s destiny – what would the cards say about it, I wonder?

    1. Thank you, Andrea! 🙂 I did link to the tarot and the regular card sites, and sun/moon signs are pretty easy to find online…but if you ever want your blog’s numerology, or nakshatra, I just need it’s birthdate and birthname. 😀 In all fairness, I’m pretty sure any expert in any of these things would say that these analyses do not apply to blogs– perhaps because they don’t know how real blogs are! 😉 🙂

  2. Unfamiliar, heck, are their any that I AM familiar with?!? Perhaps I should have had my blogs cards read before I did all that sidebar work…
Also, (because it was super hard for me and I’m totally looking for a pat on the back) I made a tag line – AND I put it on my blog. Been working on that for four years. (My blog will be four on saturday 🙂 Now I have to stop staring at in case I deiced that I hate it – again… #taglinesstressmeout

    1. Ha! 🙂 Your tagline is awesome! It’s got a wonderfully homey tone to it. I love that your blog is 4 years old soon! To me, that’s inspirational, since I see so many blogs go kerplop and disappear. Happy early blog birthday to you! 🙂

        1. I would have found a nice way of saying it wasn’t any good at all if it wasn’t, haha! 🙂 But it’s great, really. It reminds me a lot of you, and your blog… which is perfection! Though it does make me feel a tad sad for the poor outnumbered male, haha. 😀

          1. Awww thanks!

And that outnumbered male of mine does just fine, after all he’s got four girls that think he hung the moon right here in the house. That must be worth putting up with a few too many sessions of princess and fairies right? 🙂

    1. I think that’s probably the most reasonable way to look at a blog… but I get carried away with anthropomorphizing things. I say hello to about 30 different “people” when I come home, but I only live with Dave… Hello, Lady Lamp… hello, Liza the lemon juice bottle… etc, etc. 😉 And once you name something and celebrate it’s birthday… you should listen to it’s destiny, right? 🙂

    1. 😀 Aw, thanks, Alison. I loved the description, really.. and the flaws are ones that I own up to willingly. 🙂 I feel like my personal cards would give you a wider scope– in how I deal with people, and career, and home life… but what this described is a huge aspect of me. Funny how that worked out. 😀

I also liked that so many of my blog’s signs were cat-related… that’s perfect for the internet. 🙂

  3. Wow, Rara, this is GREAT! Fascinating – and I can see the strands you have pulled out in your blog. What a fabulous idea. Another thing occurs to me – and that is the blend, or disparity, or complementing which goes on between blog and blogger. For example, your blog is very much a Fire sign, whereas you are (I suspect, but do not know for sure) Earth. My blog was born twice – in Gemini the first time and, like yours, in Leo the second; I am an earthy Capricorn. Thanks so much for flagging up this inspirational idea; I shall go away and research. xxx

    1. Oh yes! I’m a very mutable earth sign in real life… sun in Virgo, moon in Virgo, vedic star sign based in earth… yep. 🙂 I think the discrepancy is because my blog is me without the worries– it’s just the social, silly, and philosophical sides. 🙂 I’d love to see what you come up with if you decide to go down this path at all, let me know. 🙂

      1. I think you have hit the nail on the head there, Rara: the blog is almost like a more forward persona for lots of us, I suspect. For me, it is an extension, in many respects, of the larger than life Miss Browning (later, Mrs Taylor) who taught English for so many years. But, I have also noticed that my more emotional side comes out in some posts. Strange. I must look into it more. I would have guessed Virgo, oddly enough. xxx

  4. This was so much fun to learn the occult of your blog! IRL, I’m a Leo but identify with my Scorpio moon. My writing (on TD’s blog) started in Aquarius. Hmmm.

  5. I love this post and the idea that the blog would have a life and destiny of its own. I think though that it speaks to me particularly because I started a new job this week that is not photography related and I am not sure what if any impact that is going to have on my blog. I know for the next few weeks I’ll blog less and I try and figure out how to rearrange and manage all the things in my life.

  6. Umm, so this was awesome. I think I’m going to totally steal, I mean borrow, your idea and see what my blog’s destiny is!! May I be super selfish and ask for the numerology/nakshatra from you? Or do you have a recommendation on where I could go to find it? Yay! My blog’s given name is and it was born on 03/09/2013.

  7. This is brilliant. I may have to do that with mine. Mine was born February 2010 🙂 This one anyway. The original wordpress blog was born March 2008

  8. I like this!
Mine was born on April 28th. So- it’s almost my blog’s bday.
Not quite sure what its destiny is. But – it would be fun to find out.

  9. Wow – you know, considering how much of us our blogs contain, how could it not be an extension of ourselves, but I hadn’t thought about that extension having a life of its own. But – it does! Of course it does. Well, now I am very curious about the “birth” of my own literary baby.
Really thought provoking idea Rara. Again, how the heck do you come up with this stuff? Cheers!

  10. Rara, what a delight and positive post. Like so many other that have posted maybe I should have my plogdate analyized. Who knows it could confirm I am on the right track. Take care, Bill

  11. Love the number of “embraces” in your blog destiny. So appropriate. I also love Ashlesha–since I was born in the year of the snake–especially the rawr if you make it angry. You have a new career in fortune telling, Rara. Is there anything you can’t do?
    {{{hugs]}} Kozo
p.s. Love the re-format of the comments. I just read Alison’s comment which I would have scrolled right by in the large photo format.

  12. Very intriguing and I am not sure how my blog is in terms of its destiny. But I am glad to be connected, even though I may not appear here often, due to crazy life and time constraints, I am always smiling when I leave! thanks for those smiles…
