purpleleaves spill over
in violaceous bliss,
skimming the soil–
a plush purple kiss.
branches are bared-
a vibrant declaration-
pirouetting downward
in perfect preparation.
The Tree keeps her vigil,
a silent steady watch–
as times falls forward

Y’all are getting a poem and some quiet social media presence today because I can’t find my other typing wristband. True story.

What’s your favorite color of leaf? What’s your favorite season? What’s your favorite V word?

  1. 1. I’m liking that purple one that you put up there.
    2. Definitely fall. After not being part of that colorful autumn explosion for six years, I love it even more than ever.
    3. perhaps a tie: Voracious, Vivacious
    Fun questions! 🙂

    1. Thank you, and you had fun answers! Purple is always a bit of fun, and fall is the time to see those purple leaves scatter because that’s when our Jacarandas decide to lose their feathers. Voraciously vivacious… vivaciously voracious. Oh yes, they both sound wonderful. 😀

  2. All leaf colors are great. I haven’t quite figured how seasons work in SoCal but when we were back east, fall was always a favorite. I guess I like the season of now in SoCal … November here should be its own season. Favorite v words = violet, vivisection, and vibrado. Yeah, it’s like that.

  3. I like them all but if I had to choose, I would pick a bright red one. I love winter most of all, I think. V…veracity, I think but I also love the word vellum…and the paper. And in Spanish my favorite V word would probably be “vencer” which means conquer.

        1. Well, any points I got being somewhat witty are totally lost in the fact that I either just unfollowed and refollowed you, or just unfollowed, or… ?! I don’t know. There’s a plus under your name like I don’t follow you which everyone in the ‘sphere knows is ridiculous because I’m a loyal subject of the kingdom… but when I click it… it stays a plus. What does it mean?! Okay. Less coffee tomorrow.

      1. Vulgar is too common a word for an adorable stuffed animal. Or at least, that’s what I was told once.

Instead, I think I’ll go with Verisimilitude. It’s a truthful millipede with a bit of a chip on its shoulder.

  4. The pale, sunshine-through-it green of leaves which dance against bright blue, heralding the return of warmth and light.

    Summer. Of course.

I don’t think I’ve ever had a favourite v word! Maybe ‘victory’, because it could stand for so much good.

      1. Heat and light and brightness and long days and floating hearts and everything feeling less desperate when it’s sunny.

        Here’s to summer.

Might need to change to Vanquish. We’ll see. Victory feels a little unattainable.

    1. I should have made a bet on who would come up with the “obvious guy answer” first, but I never would have guessed it would be you!

    1. Yep! Time to become a south Californian. :). Which works out great because then we can grab some coffee sometime though I feel it’s only fair to warn you… Coffee tastes better when the sky isn’t stuck in eternal summer. It’s still delicious but just not quite the same as when you sip on it through a snowstorm….

  5. I’m way late here as I struggle to keep up with *all* the blogs. I’ll take any leaf, but Autumn leaves are my favourites. And someone’s probably already said it, but my favourite V word is ‘verisimilitude’.
