life, art

"Grawr!" - by Grayson Queen
“Grawr!” – by Grayson Queen

He paints with slow, deep,
dark strokes reflecting
his disposition.

Hovering over his
work of priceless art.
Brushing in its life.

His work has rhythm.
A slow, drumming strut.
Fifteen syllables.

I count them, watching,
as his hands create
true sincerity.

The lines swell and curve.
He breathes in deeply.
His art breathes in him.

I breathe in his art.
One, two, three, four, five.
Fifteen syllables.

You may have noticed some changes ’round these parts, with more to come.ย  For now, since I have a homepage set to Rarasaur.com, feel free to bookmark https://rarasaur.wordpress.com/?p=* if you’d like to arrive at the posts page directly.ย  Of course, you probably come here via email, so the homepage doesn’t bother you at all, but just in case…

Are you an artist?

  1. I’ve sat here, hoping I would come up with some fifteen syllable haiku-ish thing. But I thought, if I’m going to comment within a relevant time-frame I better just say – YAY! Nicely done.

I’m artistic-ish. I’ve had my moments, some of which I’d like to revisit some day. xx

  2. I always come via the homepage, but I like to see if anything is new so I am happy to come that route. Anyways Rarasaur has become like ESPN, a webpage that I check in on daily to see whats up. Should I have said like Huffingtonpost? Actually I tend to check entertainment before serious news. After 9/11 it took me like 5 years before I could check entertainment news first, as I always felt guilty to go there first, but now I’m fully back to my old ways…

    1. I like ESPN better, ha. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’ve had trouble watching news since I started blogging. I don’t remember what world crisis it was, but I read the blogs first– by chance, by accident– and I realized how ridiculous the news seemed when I could hear the stories I wanted to hear. Where were the children? Was there school today? Did the cookies finish baking, or did they have to leave them for another day? Are people warm, do they need blankets, can they get mail? But the news just rattles on about the sizes of things and the threat of stuff still to come… so yeah. It’s entertainment news, or no news, for me lately. ๐Ÿ™‚

And, thank you, Sreejit. You’re the best. ๐Ÿ˜€

  3. I craft from Darkened depths the hidden gems of a mind consumed by Sanity’s death
A soul at ease with the internal conflict of unrest
Read my words with not a tear but the respect that I have yet to sever the cords of life, when without relent I am permanently depressed

  4. Beautiful. I love the way your words flow like water, Ra. They wash over me with peace – that is a precious rare commodity in this day and age. I, for one, appreciate and admire it greatly.

  5. I may have dabbled in The Arts…

    1. ๐Ÿ˜€ Thank you, lovely! Dabbled in the arts, ha! Oh, and speaking of which… if I don’t email you in the next 3 days about a project, can you bug me?? It’s important, but I’m feeling a little swamped still. ๐Ÿ™‚

And thank you on the video. Christian did a fabulous job, right? I wish I could show y’all the raw footage so you’d all see how really talented he is. I mostly babbled but he pieced it together like a magician!

Oh girl…we might just have to get us some swamp boots..I’m in the trenches with ya here. I think my head is still spinning. But we can handle it, right?
Is it the next day yet?

    1. Um, your comic drawings are my FAVORITE things. Seriously, I love them. ๐Ÿ™‚ And you’re incredibly creative, in even the way you think, and very much the way you blog, and though haven’t witnessed it, probably in the way you teach…. yep, artist. โค

  6. Aren’t we all artists in one way or another? Today I’m an artist of productivity, as I get to all the things I haven’t had time for yet this week, checking off items on my to-do list in a frenzy of patient and beautiful activity. Tomorrow maybe I’ll be an artist of words… as I realize that my scheduled posts are nearing their end. December is looming on the horizon and I’m not yet prepared.

    1. Not yet prepared for December? Compared to this year, I think December’s gonna be a breeze. You’re most definitely an artist, of pretty much anything you attempt. That’s the curse of the artist soul, I suppose. ๐Ÿ™‚ โค

    1. You’re an awesome artist, Dean, and I bet it does have a rhythm to it. This one is about Dave, written back in the day, but he’d always claim that he was just a mess when painting too. “Slave to the paint that never dries on time” he’d say, but third party observers see the pattern to the madness. ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. You absolutely are an artist, Dani. ๐Ÿ™‚ Your art is magical. It’s why I show it in video, right next to TJ’s and E’s. And yes, Dave’s process was a peaceful one– to me. Even when it made him want to tear out his own hair. ๐Ÿ˜€

  8. We’re all artists in that we create, right? Although that is the broadest sense of the word.

I’m a singer, a flute player, a knitter and a wordsmith. When it comes to pencil and paper, I need way more practice, time and dedication.
