how to treat doors

Close the door gently when you do,
It is, after all, how you made it through.

Be soft with whatever happened to you,
Close the door gently, when you do.

Keep your heart wide open– bold and true.
It is, after all, how you made it through.

Thank you, as always, for reading.

  1. I’m more gentle now than I used to be. As a teenager, in school, I could slam the classroom door (when my so-called friends were winding me up) so hard that it would bounce open again and smack into the radiator before closing again.

I don’t spend time with people like that any longer. And I can’t go back and apologise to the door, because my old high school was demolished to create a housing estate.

  2. I might leave the door open, if it’s all the same,
’cause when the monsters creep, I get out of the way –

I can be moody, though have only myself to blame,
I might leave the door open, if it’s all the same,

when my anger peaks, I develop great aim,
’cause when the monsters creep, I get out of the way.

  3. I love how much weight the cascade format gave to the line “Be soft with whatever happened to you.” So good to read you, Ra! I squealed when I saw you had linked up.

  4. I’ve always wanted to dive through doors and make a grand entrance. But I guess that is not very practical or polite in modern society 🙂 I’ll try to take your advice on board and be gentle, even though I am secretly fantasising about being a door ninja
